The countdown is on! In just a few days, Sample the Sierra will transform Bijou Community Park into South Lake Tahoe’s ultimate celebration of food, drinks, music, and community. On Saturday, Sept. 6, from 12 to 4 p.m. at Bijou Community Park, guests can enjoy an afternoon filled with mouthwatering bites, craft beverages, handcrafted artisan goods, and live entertainment — all in the heart of the Sierra.
This year’s festival will welcome over 40 food and beverage vendors, offering everything from savory plates to sweet treats, refreshing non-alcoholic drinks, and specialty gluten-free and vegetarian options. Whether you’re sipping bold wines, sampling small-batch spirits, enjoying local brews, or treating yourself to dessert, there’s truly something for every palate. Families are encouraged to attend too, with free admission for kids under 9 years old.
Food & Beverage Pairings That Delight
One of the most exciting elements of Sample the Sierra is the way chefs, brewers, winemakers, and distillers come together to create unique pairings — offering guests curated tastings that celebrate the best of Tahoe and beyond. It’s also a chance for new food and beverage businesses in the region to introduce themselves to the community and share their flavors for the first time. Just to name a few:
- Fox and Hound Smokehouse Grill & Bar paired with Tahoe Blue Vodka
- Toulouse paired with E16 Winery
- The Cork & More paired with Frankie’s Tahoe (formerly Tahoe Cakes by Grace)
- Jimmy’s at The Landing Resort & Spa showcasing a food and beverage duo from their acclaimed restaurant
- MacDuff’s Pub paired with Sidellis Lake Tahoe
- Newcomers like GenTea, offering refreshing tea blends for non-alcoholic drinkers, and Castle Rock Creamery, serving small-batch artisan ice cream to satisfy your sweet tooth
With over 1,500 expected attendees, these pairings create an opportunity for every guest to find a new favorite dish or drink, whether you’re a foodie, wine enthusiast, craft beer lover, or someone who simply enjoys a good afternoon treat.
The Artisan Market: Shop, Stroll & Connect
Beyond the food and drink, the Artisan Market invites you to explore a wide variety of handcrafted treasures from more than 30 local makers. Guests can meet the artists behind the work while browsing everything from custom hats and handmade pet gear to unique apparel, jewelry, pottery, and woodworking — all celebrating Tahoe’s mountain spirit.
The Artisan Market isn’t just about shopping — it’s about connecting with the creative community that makes South Lake Tahoe so special. Whether you take home a handcrafted gift, a cozy piece of apparel, or a keepsake that reflects Tahoe’s character, it’s the perfect way to round out your festival experience.

Live Music, Fresh Air & Family Fun
Bring a picnic blanket or lawn chairs and settle in under the pines for live music from local favorites, The Imposters. While adults sip and sample, kids can enjoy not only the festival treats, but explore Bijou Community Park’s new skate park, playground, and bike park. With entertainment, open lawns, and plenty of flavor, Sample the Sierra is designed to be a fun-filled outing for all ages.
