Working within the Carson City Sheriff’s Office facility the inmates and their visitors have the smallest “victims” entwined within the system: Babies and small children.  Confusion and frustrated emotions run the spectrum of tears an hurtful silences.

The inmates are spread widely between females and males and it is/are the friends and relatives that bring these kids to visit their loved ones being separated by thick material as a preventative measure due to the infrequent risk of confrontations, riots, and violent outbursts — all of these types of facilities require a special type of “glass” known as “detention glazing.”

New mothers bring their children and hold them up to see their inmate.  Some are pregnant and are poor and frustrated.  Knowing the future is a coin toss of squalor and deprivation, these females are on the precipice of realizing life is a constant whirlpool of ups and downs whereby the repeat offenders refuse to give up bad habits and don’t mind bringing down those who care/love them.

If one of these “Rescue Boxes” was available in Carson City, the temptation for a tormented mother to do the unthinkable might give way to a better option.  Can we do a fund drive for a Carson City First?
