Terek Been, a member of the Canadian National Rowing Team, has had a busy competition season. Terek is a Nevada native and was a Minden resident and Carson High School graduate. Terek’s dedication and hard work have led to a series of impressive achievements.Â
Recently, Terek Been set a new Canadian men’s 2000m erg record with a time of 5:38.2. Fewer than 20 men alive have ever recorded a verified 2k erg time of 5:38.2 or faster. The current world record is 5:35.8.
This summer the Canadian teams travelled internationally to Amsterdam, London, and St. Catherine’s Ontario. Terek and his partner secured a second-place finish in the prestigious Henley Royal Regatta on the River Thames in July. Participating in the Men’s Senior Heavyweight Doubles (2x).
Terek’s success continued at the Canadian Henley this past August, where in the Men’s double (2x) he and his partner clinched first place. He also competed in the Men’s singles (1x) event.
Looking ahead, Terek is set to represent Canada’s National Rowing team in the upcoming World Rowing Championship in Shanghai, China, in September. He will be competing in the Men’s doubles (2x) event as well as the Men’s 8. It is a huge honor to represent and compete for your country in the World Rowing Championships.
