UPDATE 4:30PM: The urban and small stream flood advisory for eastern Carson City and Douglas County has been lifted.
***
The National Weather Service in Reno issued an urban and small stream flood advisory Monday afternoon for eastern Carson City and Douglas County until 5:30 p.m.
At 3:12 p.m. Doppler radar indicated heavy rain due to thunderstorms east of Johnson Lane. This will cause small stream flooding in the advisory area. If rainfall becomes more intense or prolonged, a flash flood warning may be issued. The weather service advises that radar has shown up to a half-inch of rain has already fallen.
The weather service advises to be prepared for minor and nuisance flooding in flood prone locations, especially for low water crossings in Johnson Lane.
In hilly terrain there are hundreds of low water crossings that are potentially dangerous in heavy rain. Do not attempt to cross flooded roads and find an alternative route.
