A 51-year-old San Jose, Calif., man was arrested Thursday night on felony suspicion of assault with a deadly weapon, being an ex-felon in possession of a firearm and felony DUI following an altercation at a bar, a Carson City sheriff’s deputy said.

Arturo Ponce was taken into custody across from Mills Park on William Street. He also faces misdemeanor charges of driving on a suspended license, open container and driving with a suspended registration.

According to the arrest report, deputies were dispatched to a bar in the 300 block of East William Street at 9:21 p.m. for a man with a gun trying to get inside. Witnesses at the bar saw the suspect get into a green Corvette and retrieve a handgun. The witnesses said he lifted his shirt, placed his gun in his waistband, walked toward the front of the bar and said “I just got out of prison, I’m going to handle this,” the arrest report states. The witnesses feared for their safety.

The man left in his Corvette. A deputy located the vehicle and conducted a high risk traffic stop at the 1100 block of East William Street. The man was detained and an officer could smell an odor of alcohol. Inside the vehicle the man had a handgun BB gun and an open beer in the cup holder. Dispatch advised he had a suspended license and the license plates on the car were also suspended.

The man agreed to field sobriety tests, could not complete them and was placed in custody and taken to jail. While at jail dispatch advised the man is an ex-felon for DUI in California, the arrest report states. He blew breath tests with results of .156 and .158. Bail: $60,926.

In other arrests:
— Two Dayton men were arrested early Friday, 1:33 a.m. in the area of Koontz Lane and Ponderosa on multiple charges. Drew Owen-Self, 30, was taken into custody on felony suspicion of possession of a controlled substance and parole and probation violation.
Lance Spurlock, 40, was also arrested on suspicion of being a convicted person with a stun gun and misdemeanor possession of drug paraphernalia.

According to the arrest report, deputies were dispatched to the 4000 block of Bigelow Drive for a verbal dispute involving drugs. Deputies arrived with a vehicle leaving the area and initiated a traffic stop. Officers located a shoebox full of prescription pills on the top of the vehicle.

A deputy with a K9 conducted an exterior search of the vehicle and were alerted to drugs. In the back seat officers located hypodermic devices, a scale, a tooter straw commonly used for inhaling drugs and a Taser. Spurlock, a convicted felon, advised the Taser was his and he bought it in Reno, the arrest report states.

Underneath Owen-Self’s seat officers located prescription Hydrocodone in a pill bottle. Dispatch advised he was under supervision of state parole and probation, who requested a hold. Both were taken into custody. The 30-year-old was placed with a no bail hold for parole and probation violation. Bail for Spurlock: $11,137.

— A 54-year-old transient, Raymond Mccolm, was arrested Thursday, 6:33 p.m. in the 500 block of North Carson Street on felony suspicion of possession of stolen property, gross misdemeanor conspiracy to commit vehicle theft, and misdemeanor charges of driving without a valid license and no proof of insurance. $30,929.

— A 24-year-old Carson City man was arrested Friday, 12:52 a.m. in the 300 block of North Carson Street on suspicion of two counts violation of bail conditions. Bail: $6,000.

— A 29-year-old Carson City man was arrested Thursday, 11:20 p.m. on misdemeanor suspicion of driving on a suspended license and failure to appear for a traffic violation. Bail: $1,559.

— A 47-year-old Fallon man was booked into jail Thursday, 10:05 a.m. on a misdemeanor violation of a suspended sentence warrant. Bail: $3,000.
