UPDATE: Nevada Highway Patrol reports an adult male and adult female died in a single vehicle crash that happened early Saturday morning on US-395 and Lemmon Drive.

The NHP preliminary investigation indicates that a pickup, driven by an adult male, and occupied by an unrestrained adult female passenger, was traveling northbound on US-395 approaching Lemmon Drive in the number one travel lane (left lane). For reasons unconfirmed, the driver failed to maintain his travel lane, crossed the number two northbound travel lane (right lane) and entered the right shoulder of US-395. The pickup continued north and entered the rock embankment area near the Lemmon Drive overpass and became airborne. The pickup landed on Lemmon Drive, struck the center median wall and again became airborne. The pickup then landed and came to a stop on the top of the second center median wall located on Lemmon Drive east of US-395.

The driver, an adult male, was transported to a local area hospital where he later died. The passenger, an adult female, died at the scene, according to medical personnel.

The Nevada Highway Patrol Northern Command Traffic Homicide Unit is investigating the crash.
