A 61-year-old man was arrested Thursday for violation of Department of Alternative Sentencing conditions after a vehicle rollover incident on Morgan Mill Road, according to a Carson City Sheriff’s Office booking report.
Deputies responded at 6:16 p.m. to the incident. A deputy spoke with witnesses who said a male passenger in the vehicle ran to a nearby trail. The deputy located the man, who was was detained. As the deputy spoke with him they noticed he had an odor of alcohol coming from his person. He was unable to stand without swaying back and forth and his speech was thick and slurred when he spoke, the report states.
Dispatch advised the man was on DAS with a “no alcohol” probation condition. The man reused to give a preliminary breath test. DAS was notified and they advised the man be placed on hold for violation of conditions. The man was taken to the hospital for medical clearance and then to jail. Bail: $3,000 cash.
In other arrests:
— A 45-year-old Carson City woman who was in jail custody for other offenses was booked for a misdemeanor contempt of court warrant out of Carson City Justice Court with a no bail hold.
— A 60-year-old Reno man in Carson City jail custody for another offense was booked for a misdemeanor contempt of court warrant issued out of Carson City Justice Court. Bail: $3,000.
— A 48-year-old Austin, Nev., woman was arrested Thursday in the area of Rand Avenue and Long Street for suspicion of possession of a controlled substance and possession of drug paraphernalia.
According to the booking report, a deputy made a traffic stop for a vehicle, which did not have any license plate affixed to the rear of the vehicle and had cross over the limit line of the stop signs at Rand and East Long.
The deputy made contact with the driver of the vehicle, who was not wearing a seatbelt. The female passenger was also not wearing a seatbelt. The deputy observed an expired moving permit dated July 12, 2026 on the front windshield.
The deputy requested a K9 to conduct a free air sniff of the vehicle. The officer asked the driver to exit the vehicle, which he complied and consented to a pat down of his person. The deputy asked the woman to exit the vehicle, which she complied and complied to a pat down search. No weapons were found on either of the driver or female passenger.
A deputy and K9 conducted a free air sniff of the vehicle in which the K9 alerted positive for narcotics. Deputies conducted a probable cause search of the vehicle and located narcotics on the front passenger floorboard of the vehicle, a baggie containing a crystalline substance and a pipe. The female passenger was arrested. Bail: $2,500.
