The monsters are returning to Carson City, and they need backup. Dark Prison Haunted House is now hiring actors and support staff for its 2025 Halloween season at the historic Nevada State Prison in Carson City.
In order to make this haunted season successful Dark Prison needs more actors and support staff to work within the chilling walls of the historic prison.
No experience is necessary, and all are welcome to apply. Whether you’re from Carson City, Reno, Sparks, South Lake Tahoe, Gardnerville, or anywhere else in Northern Nevada—if you can get to the prison, you’re eligible to join the fun.
Part of the hiring process includes auditions, a way for interested applicants to get a feel for Dark Prison and what working for this event might entail. Auditions will be held on Friday, August 22 and Friday, August 29 at Nevada State Prison.
Exact times will be posted via Dark Prison’s social media and included in application confirmations via email.
There are a wide variety of roles available, including: Scare Actors, Bartenders, Ushers, Ticket Scanners, Tour Guides, Game Attendants, Photographers, Management, and more. Applications are now open at: darkprison.com/jobs.
“We’re so excited to be hiring again for 2025. We have lots of open positions and are happy to be able to provide jobs for creatives in our region,” said Holly Spahr, CEO of Dark Corner Creative, the parent company of Dark Prison.
The 2025 season is expected to create between 60–100 jobs, many of which are entry-level and ideal for students, creatives, part-time workers, or anyone looking for a fun and unique side hustle this fall.
Many returning staff from Dark Prison’s earlier days in downtown Reno are expected to rejoin the crew. Now based in Carson City, the attraction is able to draw talent from an even wider area, offering roles to performers and workers beyond the city center.
After the success of the sold-out Halfway to Halloween event in May, Dark Corner Creative and the Nevada State Prison Preservation Society (NSPPS) are teaming up once again to bring a full season of scares back to the historic prison. This time some of the fan-favorite characters from Dark Corner’s earlier attractions are joining the inmates inside Dark Prison.
It’s a new experience designed to excite Dark Corner fans and entertain curious newcomers. “The response to our spring event was incredible, and we’re excited to build on that momentum,” said Dustin Ring, CFO and CTO of Dark Corner Creative.
“Working with NSPPS allows us to create something truly unique in a venue unlike any other.”
