UPDATE: Tahoe Douglas Fire, East Fork Fire and the Nevada Highway Patrol are on scene of a two vehicle collision with injuries at the junction of US-50 and State Route 28 in Douglas County.
At 1:18 p.m. Douglas County dispatch alerted responders to the accident, described as a “head-on” involving an SUV and a pickup. First responders at the scene report major damage to the vehicles.
An NHP spokesman said one person with serious injuries was flown by air ambulance to the hospital. Their condition is unknown at this time. Seven people were taken by ground ambulance to area hospitals with non-life threatening injuries.
US-50 eastbound and westbound have been reduced to one travel lane. NDOT is assisting with traffic control, according to dispatch.
Motorists can expect delays.
