School may be out for kids in Nevada, but the need for healthy meals never ends. Nearly 4,000 students in Carson City are eligible for free and reduced lunch, making up more than 51 percent of the student population.
Free, healthy meals will continue to be served throughout the summer for kids and teens in Carson City. The United States Department of Agriculture (USDA) Summer Food Service program is open to children and teens all summer long. Meal sites throughout the state will offer meals daily for kids for free with no enrollment. The Summer Food Service program plans to serve about 627,000 meals at 323 sites across Nevada.
