Gusty winds and low humidity expected for Carson City and much of Northern Nevada this afternoon has prompted the National Weather Service in Reno to issue a Red Flag fire weather warning.
Low pressure expected through Saturday will bring increasing afternoon and evening winds that will produce very dry, fire-prone weather conditions, the weather service states.
Afternoon winds will likely begin after 2 p.m. with west to southwest gusts of 15 to 20 mph and as high as 35 mph. Steady winds of 10 to 20 mph on mid and upper slopes may continue through the night, the weather service states. Afternoon humidity will likely drop to 5 to 12 percent, with overnight humidity recovery to be especially poor on the mid and upper slopes.
