The Carson City Planning Commission will meet on Wednesday to hear a request by Granite Construction for a time extension to build a concrete plant; will take up a right-of-way abandonment on Karin Drive and will review a special use permit for an apartment complex in the 800 block of North Division.
The meeting begins at 5 p.m. in the Sierra Room of the Carson City Community Center, 851 E. William St.
First up on the agenda: The commission is set to look at a previously-approved Special Use Permit granted to Granite Construction and its request for a three-year extension to build a concrete batch plant at 5855 Sheep Drive. The commission had already previously approved a two-year extension in July 2009, according to a planning staff report.
Second on the agenda, commissioners will look at a request for a public right-of-way abandonment on property located in the 1700 block of Karin Drive, adjacent to the 1900 block of Hamilton Ave. The request is to abandon the right-of-way, as the roadway path was blocked when the adjacent property to the north was developed as a house rather than a continuation of the right-of-way. The area has not been improved as a street, the staff report stated.
Finally, commissioners will review a Special Use Permit request from Al Salzano to allow a multi-family apartment on property zoned Residential Office (RO), located at 812 N. Division Street. The property owner is requesting to allow the construction of a new multi-family apartment project consisting of two, two-story, four-plex buildings (eight total units) in a Bungalow/Craftsman style.
