Local Special Olympics athletes and coaches greeted customers at the front door to Chili’s on Topsy Lane Thursday night, while uniformed law enforcement officers from the Douglas County Sheriff’s Office and Nevada Highway Patrol took orders and served food to guests.

The annual Special Olympics Tip-A-Cop fundraiser was held from 5 to 9 p.m. Thursday evening at Chili’s. Law enforcement raised nearly $2,700 in Reno and Carson City, according to MyNews4.com. Chili’s also donates 10 percent on all coupons used by customers during the event.

All tips earned during the event are donated to Special Olympics of Nevada.
