A 31-year-old man was arrested July 17 for allegedly using a barcode that didn’t match a scooter he was attempting to buy at a local store, admitting he scanned the wrong box to get a lower price, according to a Carson City Sheriff’s Office booking report.

Following an investigation, CCSO deputies arrested Travis Robert Milner for the alleged felony offense, listed in NRS as possess, make, alter, force or counterfeit sales receipt or inventory pricing label.

According to the booking report, CCSO deputies were called to Walmart in the 3200 block of Market Street for a dispute. Dispatch advised a subject was being uncooperative and arguing with employees.

A deputy arrived and met with the surveillance supervisor who advised that a couple came in and were at the self-checkout and bought a scooter. The subject scanned his phone with a barcode that did not belong to the scooter he had in the cart, the report states.

The deputy made contact with the man and asked him what happened. He stated he was at the self-checkout and scanned a barcode on his phone and paid for the item. The deputy told the suspect that it was the wrong barcode for the scooter. The man stated the scooters were in the wrong place on the shelf and that he took a picture of the barcode, the report states.

The deputy asked the man to see the picture he took and he showed it to the deputy, the report states. The officer observed the photo the man took of the barcode, which stated the word “Rival” above the barcode.

The deputy compared the picture to the barcode on the box of the scooter he had. The barcode did not match, and, nowhere on his box did it say “Rival.” The brand of scooter he had was “Segway,” the report states.

The deputy went to the aisle where the scooters were and observed the scooters all in the correct places. The brand of scooter he scanned was on the bottom shelf. The scooter he took was two shelves away and on the middle shelf and was a different brand. The box of the barcode he scanned was teal and white and the box he took was gray and red, the report states.

While speaking, the man stated he scanned the wrong box to intentionally get a lower price, the report states. He was placed under arrest. Bail: $3,000.

In other arrests:
— A 21-year-old Carson City man was arrested early Saturday for suspicion of DUI. According to the booking report, at around 3 a.m. a deputy was traveling eastbound on Highway 50 East and noticed light smoke and the smell of burning brakes coming from the vehicle in front of him.

The deputy followed the vehicle and watched the driver’s side wheels touch and cross over the white dashed lines multiple times. At the intersection of Highway 50 East and Deer Run, the vehicle started to improperly change lanes as it traveled through the intersection, the report states. Once through, the passenger side wheels almost touched the white dashed lines before the vehicle swerved back over to the far right hand travel lane. The deputy initiated a traffic stop.

The deputy approached the passenger side window and noticed two occupants, but neither was sitting in the driver seat. The deputy could not see the driver switch seats because the camper shell on the truck had an obstructed view, the report states.

The deputy noticed the occupant in the front passenger seat had extremely red and watery eyes. The officer could smell the odor of alcohol coming from the passenger side. The deputy asked who was driving and the passenger pointed to the occupant in the passenger seat behind the driver seat. The individual was identified and stated he was the one driving, the report states.

As the deputy watched the man move back into the driver’s seat, he noticed a lack of motor skills as the man appeared off balance. Once the man was seated in the driver seat, the officer could see his eyes were red and watery. The officer approached the driver door and instructed the man to exit the vehicle.

While standing next to the man the deputy could smell an odor of alcohol coming from his person. The man consented to standardized field sobriety tests and showed clues of impairment on the tests. The man consented to a preliminary breath test with a result of .214. He was arrested for suspicion of DUI. Bail: $1,137.

— A 39-year-old Mound House woman was arrested July 17 for suspicion of misdemeanor domestic battery. According to the booking report, deputies were called at 10:32 p.m. to a Baker Drive address for a reported domestic battery.

Dispatch advised the male reporting party (RP) and the female, who would be determined as the suspect, were separated and that the male RP said would be outside the residence waiting.

Deputies arrived and investigated, speaking with both parties. After interviewing both and evidence collected, the woman was determined to be the primary aggressor. Bail: $3,137.

— A 53-year-old Carson City man was arrested Saturday for suspicion of misdemeanor property destruction. The suspect was accused of doing damage to his mother’s car following an argument, which was witnessed by a neighbor. The man admitted to throwing a piece of metal at the vehicle. Bail: $637.

— A 51-year-old Yerington man, Bryan Gordon, was booked into Carson City Jail Saturday for suspicion of felony violation of probation or conditions of a suspended sentence. No bail hold in lieu of hearing.

— A 39-year-old Carson City woman was arrested Saturday for four misdemeanor contempt of court warrants. Bail: $2,000 cash.

— A 24-year-old Carson City woman was arrested July 17 for suspicion of possession of a controlled substance, possession of drug paraphernalia and a misdemeanor contempt of court warrant. Bail: $2,500.

— A 32-year-old Carson City man was arrested July 17 for a warrant alleging violation of conditions of release. No bail hold in lieu of hearing.

— A 26-year-old Carson City man was arrested July 17 for a misdemeanor outside agency warrant. Bail: $3,000.
