Jordan Gotchy, new director of Carson Chamber Singers, to begin rehearsals August 12.

By Elinor Bugli — Calling singers! The Carson Chamber Singers, a performing group of the Carson City Symphony Association, is beginning rehearsals for their 41st season on Tuesday, August 12. Weekly rehearsals are from 6:30 to 8:30 p.m. at the LDS Church, 411 N. Saliman Road in Carson City. Carson Chamber Singers is open to singers high-school age and above.

The first concert of the season will be on Friday, October 10, at 7:00 p.m. at First United Methodist Church, in Carson City. This will be the Singers first concert with recently selected Director, Jordan Gotchy, following the retirement of Gary Schwartz.

Gotchy is a musician, composer, tenor, and teacher in Reno, NV, and has been involved in choir since an early age. He earned his Master’s Degree in Music Composition from the University of Nevada, Reno, a Bachelor’s Degree in Music from Berklee College of Music, and completed an internship with Bella Voce, northern Nevada’s premier treble voice chorus. Current choir and orchestra director at Spanish Springs High School, Gotchy said, “I am excited about the opportunity to contribute to the music culture of Carson City.” 

Founded in 1985 as an affiliate of the Carson City Symphony Association, the Carson Chamber Singers have performed at several venues in northern Nevada and in California. They have sung with the Reno Philharmonic and perform regularly with the Carson City Symphony.
