South Shore Lake Tahoe area firefighters responded to two small fires on Sunday, one at Round Hill and the other in a South Lake Tahoe meadow.
Just after noon, several engines responded to a fire on Round Mound above the Wyndham South Shore timeshare on Elk Point Road. The fire was kept to just 30 feet by 20 feet due to the response by Tahoe Douglas Fire, whose station is across the street from the timeshare.
Two engines, each of the Tahoe Douglas and Forest Service, and the Zephyr Fire and Tallac Hot Shot crews all responded to the scene. The cause of this fire is under investigation.
Meanwhile, a person walking behind the U.S. Forest Service building and Ross/Rite Aid building on Al Tahoe Boulevard saw a fire and rushed into Ross to call 911. Firefighters responded quickly and the small fire was quickly extinguished. The fire was only able to burn a 5 foot by 5 foot square. The cause is under investigation.
With a Red Flag Warning up in the Lake Tahoe Basin on Monday and Lake Wind Advisories on Sunday, firefighters are keeping a close eye on any potential problems. People are urged not use flame or fire outdoors, and be mindful of gas and electric power tools near dry brush.
