Carson City Health and Human Services has been made aware of reports concerning fraudulent phone calls targeting residents. Individuals are receiving calls from people falsely claiming to represent the Health Department.
These callers are reportedly notifying residents that their medical records have been accessed and are instructing them to visit a CCHHS office. When residents request specific office details or addresses, the callers often disconnect the line.
CCHHS wants to emphasize the following to the public:
- Official Communication: CCHHS will never contact residents via unsolicited phone calls to demand that they visit our offices due to alleged unauthorized access to medical records.
- Protect Your Information: Never share personal, financial, or private medical information over the phone with unsolicited callers.
- Verify the Source: If you receive a suspicious call claiming to be from the Health Department, please hang up and contact CCHHS directly through our official, verified phone numbers listed on our website.
- Report Fraud: If you believe you have been a target of this scam, please report the incident to local law enforcement.
The security and privacy of Carson City residents’ information remain top priority. CCHHS urges the community to stay alert and watch out for scams and tricks.
For more information, please contact CCHHS at (775) 887-2190.
