The tragic event Thursday night in Dallas is being felt in every community in every state, with an outpouring of support to local law enforcement. On Friday, associates with the Carson City Walmart on 3200 Market Street arrived at the Carson City Sheriff’s Office with food trays for sheriff’s office personnel as a way to show their appreciation.

In the photo are Walmart Associates Cathie Gitthens and Gina Key at the front counter with Sheriff’s Support Specialist Kyle Smith. The retail giant is making similar gestures of appreciation to police departments throughout the country.

The Carson City Sheriff’s Office was the first public building in Carson City to lower its flag to half staff.

The Carson City community has also experienced losing one of its own. On Aug. 15, 2015, Carson City Sheriff’s Deputy Carl Howell was killed in the line of duty.
