A 56-year-old man was arrested July 5 for suspicion of felony assault with a deadly weapon (with aggravated assault) and two misdemeanor offenses, according to a Carson City Sheriff’s Office booking report.

Following an investigation, CCSO arrested John Joseph Campbell. He was also booked for misdemeanor drawing a deadly weapon in a threatening manner and domestic battery aggravated assault.

According to the booking report, deputies were dispatched at 3:18 p.m. to the 4500 block of Mustang Drive regarding a possible domestic battery. Dispatch advised the reporting party stated her son had pulled a knife on her husband. Dispatch advised that a verbal argument was ongoing in the background between the suspect and the woman’s husband.

Deputies spoke with the woman who said her son had been drinking heavily earlier in the day and fell asleep in front of the bathroom door. She said she attempted to wake him but was unsuccessful due the man being intoxicated, according to the report. She stated she poured a cup of water on her son to wake him. He woke up and punched her with a closed fist on her left elbow and left shin, just below the knee. The deputy observed visible redness on the woman’s elbow and left shin.

Deputies spoke with the woman’s husband who stated a verbal altercation happened between him and the suspect following the incident and stated that during the argument, the suspect pulled a knife toward him and began threatening him. He stated he used his cane to knock the knife out of the man’s hand. He said the suspect then proceeded to his room after the knife was dropped, the report states.

Deputies made contact with the suspect inside the residence and asked him to step outside. He was read his Miranda warning, which he stated he understood. He refused to speak with deputies and requested a lawyer. During contact with the man, a deputy could smell an odor of alcoholic beverage coming from his breath and observed the man’s eyes were red and watery.

Campbell was told he was under arrest for assault with a deadly weapon, drawing a deadly weapon in a threatening manner and domestic battery. The deputy asked how much he had to drink. He refused to answer. The deputy asked if he would provide a preliminary breath test, which he refused. He was taken to the hospital for medical clearance and then to jail. Bail: $15,000.

In other arrests:
— A 39-year-old man was arrested July 4, 9:03 a.m. at a 20 College Parkway apartment for suspicion of misdemeanor domestic battery.

According to the booking report, deputies responding at 8:43 p.m. to 20 College Parkway for a report of a fight between multiple people. Deputies arrived and made contact with a person who stated they got into a fight with the suspect after an altercation involving his fiancee in which the suspect allegedly shoved the woman.

The man said the suspect was supposed to pick up his fiancee’s son and take him for the holiday. He said when the suspect showed up, all three parties got into an argument over the suspect throwing the child’s belongings around his vehicle. The verbal altercation escalated to where the suspect allegedly shoved the woman. The man stated he put the suspect in a “submissive hold” on the ground to stop the physical altercation. He said he wanted to press charges on the suspect.

Deputies interviewed the suspect who said he got into a verbal argument and that he only shoved his ex-girlfriend because she was getting involved in the fight. He also stated the woman’s elderly mother jumped in and “swung on” him, however she denied any of that happening, the report states. The suspect stated if he was going to jail he wanted to press charges against the other two. He was advised the District Attorney would review the case and submit for a warrant if applicable.

The woman stated she and her ex-boyfriend got into a verbal argument when the suspect came to pick up her son. She said they had dated for around five years and that in the past he had been physically abusive to her but she never reported it. She did not have any visible injuries. Due to the circumstances, the suspect was booked for suspicion of domestic battery. Bail: $3,137.

— A 43-year-old Dell, Calif., woman was arrested July 4, 2:02 a.m. for suspicion of possession of a controlled substance and possession of drug paraphernalia. Bail: $3,000.

— A 25-year-old Carson City man was arrested July 4 for suspicion of gross misdemeanor false imprisonment and misdemeanor domestic battery. According to the booking report, deputies were called to a domestic battery. Deputies arrived and observed a man and woman standing in the driveway of a residence.

The man was uncooperative with commands and placed into handcuffs. Deputies spoke with the woman who stated she and the man got into an argument. She explained the man shut the bedroom door and refused to let her out of the room, even after she tried multiple times to leave the room. She stated that while she was trying to get past the man, he shoved her with his shoulder. Deputies did not see any visible injuries or red marks, the report states.

Deputies spoke with the man who’s stated she was mad at the woman about her cheating on him. He stated he just wanted to “talk to her” and so he stood in front of the door and wouldn’t let her leave the room. He stated he didn’t shove the woman with his shoulder but bumped her. He was arrested for suspicion of domestic battery. Bail: $3,137.

— A 38-year-old Carson City woman was arrested July 5 for two warrants issued out of Lyon County Justice Court, dated March 11 and March 4. Bail: $5,000.

— A 37-year-old woman was arrested July 5 for suspicion of possession of a controlled substance and possession of drug paraphernalia. Bail: $2,500.

— A 44-year-old man was arrested July 5 for suspicion of possession of a controlled substance and possession of drug paraphernalia. Bail: $2,500.

— A 21-year-old Carson City man was arrested for suspicion of misdemeanor contributing to a minor and open container. Bail: $500.

— A 38-year-old Carson City man was arrested July 5 for a misdemeanor contempt of court warrant issued June 24, 2025 out of Carson City Justice Court. Bail: $10,000.

— A 29-year-old Yerington man was arrested July 5 for misdemeanor Department of Alternative Sentencing violation. The man had been drinking, against DAS supervision conditions that he not consume alcohol. Bail: $3,000 cash.

— A 47-year-old Sun Valley man was arrested July 5, 6:12 p.m. in the area of Carson Street and College Parkway for suspicion of DUI, failure to obey a traffic control device, improper passing a vehicle, no valid motorcycle endorsement driver’s license, and gross misdemeanor possession of a dangerous drug without a prescription.

A deputy observed the man make illegal turns and not following a traffic control device. He sped past the deputy and another vehicle in the merge lane and did not use a turn signal to make a lane change, the report states.

The rider then stopped at North Carson and College Parkway and pulled out his cell phone. The light had turned green and the motorcycle was still sitting there, the report states. The deputy activated their lights and sirens and made a traffic stop. The deputy could smell an odor of alcohol coming from the rider’s breath. Deputies checked on the man’s license, which confirmed he did not have a valid motorcycle endorsement on his license, the report states.

He agreed to standardized field sobriety tests and showed clues of impairment. He provided a preliminary breath test of .138 and was arrested. During the search deputies located a broken Viagra pill in his left coin pocket. He did not have a prescription on him. He agreed to a evidentiary blood sample. Bail: $1,140.

— A 21-year-old Carson City man was arrested Sunday, July 6, for misdemeanor suspicion of DUI and hit and run (property).

According to the booking report, deputies were called to the 2900 block of Mayflower Way at 2:59 p.m. for a report of a vehicle running over a mailbox.

Deputies were rerouted to a Lukens Drive address where the suspect vehicle was registered. Deputies were informed by the driver’s uncle that he used to live at the residence and that is why the vehicle was registered there. The man advised the nephew was drinking earlier at the residence, left the house and advised the man lived in the 2700 block of Mayflower Way.

Deputies arrived to the address and observed a blue vehicle disabled on the south driveway of the residence. There were tire marks in the ditch area in front of the house. It was clear where the mailbox had been due to the indent of dirt and it was broken at the base. The right side of the vehicle was damaged, the front tire was blown and there was damage to the rim. The rear right side of the vehicle was damaged and parts of the vehicle were on the ground by the rear tire, the report states.

Deputies met with the suspect, who submitted to field sobriety tests. The man made spontaneous utterances advising he drank too much and drove and that he was on the way back from the liquor store when he crashed, the report states. In the vehicle was a 12 pack of beer on the passenger floorboard and an empty bottle of liquor, also on the front passenger floorboard.

Deputies met with a person who advised his mailbox was run over, saying he heard a car turn out and then it crashed. He said he noticed his mailbox had been run over and badly damaged. He said he asked the driver and an unknown passenger if they were OK. He was able to identify the suspect as the driver of the vehicle that hit their mailbox, the report states.

The suspect agreed to standardized field sobriety tests and showed clues of impairment on the tests. He provided a preliminary breath test with a result of .208. He was arrested for suspicion of misdemeanor DUI and hit and run with property damage. Bail: $1,140.

— A 44-year-old Carson City man, Robert Wold, was arrested July 6 for felony parole and probation warrant. No bail hold in lieu of hearing.

— Four men were arrested July 6 at a Greenbrae Drive address for suspicion of possession of a controlled substance. Bail; $3,000 each.

— A 71-year-old man was arrested July 5 for a warrant for gross misdemeanor incident exposure. The warrant was issued June 13, 2025.

— A 39-year-old Carson City man was arrested July 3 for suspicion of petit larceny and trespass.

According to the booking report, the man allegedly stole meat products and a bag of charcoal from a grocery store in the 3300 block of Highway 50 East.

Deputies arrived and viewed video footage of the incident where the man was walking around the store, grabbing items from the meat shelf. He was carrying two bags of oysters, a salmon fillet, a rack of ribs and a bag of charcoal. He then is seen walking over to a fire exit door, pushing it open and leaving.

He was seen walking away and was found in the area of East William and Gold Dust West Way. He was arrested without incident. Bail: $250.

— A 45-year-old Reno man was arrested July 3 for parole and probation violation hold and for possession of a controlled substance. No bail hold in lieu of a hearing for the parole violation.

— A 46-year-old woman was booked into jail July 3 for a misdemeanor violation of suspended sentence warrant issued June 13, 2025 out of Carson City Justice Court. Bail: $3,000 cash.
