Update: Fire is out. The roads in the immediate area are now open. The cause of the fire, which burned brush and part of a wood outbuilding workshop and was near a metal building structure, was less than 30-feet by 30-feet in size and ran along two properties, said Carson City Fire Chief Stacey Giomi. The cause remains under investigation.

Carson City firefighters were called to the 3200 block of Otha Street for a structure fire that started in a backyard and was spreading into brush.
The fire, between Lukens Lane and College Parkway, was called into dispatch at 2:40 p.m. as a brush fire. Multiple engines and personnel have responded. Multiple 911 calls were made to dispatch.
Those at the scene say the fire had “gotten out of hand” and that smoke and flames were visible. The road into the fire zone was closed at 2:52 p.m. to traffic at Nye and Otha except for local traffic, according to dispatch.
