A 32 year-old South Lake Tahoe, CA, man was arrested early Saturday morning at 12:29 a.m. in the area of Southbound Interstate 580 and U.S. Highway 50 on misdemeanor first offense driving under the influence (DUI) of alcohol and open container offenses, a Carson City Sheriff’s deputy reported.
According to the arrest report, law enforcement responded to the area on report of a possible drunk driver that was attempting to race the reporting party (RP), brake checking and not maintaining a lane.
A Sheriff’s deputy located the suspect vehicle and observed it making sudden lane changes and abrupt changes in speed. A traffic stop was made and the deputy contacted the suspect driver, who smelled of alcohol.
An open alcohol container was observed in the plain view inside the vehicle, the report said. The driver admitted to drinking and he consented to field sobriety testing (FST), which showed signs of impairment.
The suspect performed a preliminary breath test (PBT), which yielded .165 percent breath-alcohol content. He was handcuffed and transported to the Carson City Jail for booking. Bail: $1,000.
