Yes folks, it’s time to get off the bitch train! What do I mean? We have gone though one of the worse economic periods since the Second World War. However, most of the shakers and movers of the business world would agree that it looks like that we might be seeing the first signs of an end this period. So in a funny twist, this might be the best time for you to start your business.
I got the term “It’s Time to get off The Bitch Train” From Garry Vaynerchuk http://garyvaynerchuk.com or his slightly easier to pronounce his Internet name
“Garry Vee.”
In his now slightly notorious book, “Crush IT” http://crushitbook.com, Gary’s basic argument is that there has never been a better time start a business!
One of the key reasons to listen to Garry is that he has eaten his own cake. He took over his family business and by using the Internet and social media he grew it from a $2 million to a $20 million a year sales business.
His book explains his argument that there has never been a better time in history of business to build and develop a unique brand for your business.
Big business has known for years the real power of strong brands. It’s the main method they use to get you to buy their products and services.
However, until recently, small to medium business have been excluded from the power of building a real brand name. It just cost too much money. You had to advertize in regional or national newspapers, radio or on your regional television channels. It was easy to spend thousands or ten thousands or even hundreds of thousands of dollars to build a strong local to regional brand.
Now you can do the same thing at a faction of this cost. It will mean hard work or what Garry calls “sweat equity” http://en.wikipedia.org/wiki/Sweat_equity.
His basic argument is that if he could do it, you can do it!
What were the tools that he used to build his company’s brand?
• Blogging
• Video
• Social Media (Twitter, Facebook)
• Email marketing
• Company’s website (that was kept alive i.e. updated all the time with new material)
So isn’t it time to get of the Bitch Train and start building your own company’s brand?
