A video public service announcement commissioned by the Nevada Department of Wildlife and produced by local marketing firm, the NEON Agency, took top awards from the Reno chapter of the American Advertising Federation at the 2017 “ADDY” Awards, March 10, at the Reno-Sparks Convention Center. The public service announcement took a gold award as well as the coveted “Judges Choice” award.
The video spot, “Falling” shows a number of people falling into a Nevada Lake, reminding boaters that Nevada has an average of six fatal accidents every year. With very high water levels and an increase in boating activity, safety officials are putting even more effort to remind boaters to be safe and wear life jackets. NDOW commissioned the powerful PSA in hopes of bringing attention to this serious issue.
“NEON Agency is extremely proud of our partnership with the Nevada Department of Wildlife, and we are ecstatic that together, we were able to create such a powerful message,” said NEON’s Managing Director, Randy Pease. “Having a client like NDOW, which allowed us the opportunity to bring an ambitious concept to life, is a testimony to their dedication to the safety of the community.”
“Every year we try to reach people with new and innovative messages. Selling safety can be a real challenge, and we’re proud of our creative staff and the group of local professionals that helped up put this together,” said Chief Game Warden Tyler Turnipseed of NDOW. “Despite the well-earned accolades, the most important part of this PSA is the message itself.”
Orange Tree Productions was also honored for their work on the video, and the PSA will compete for national honors in early June.
