The biggest question right now is: “Why is Ira Hansen, a sitting Assemblyman from Sparks, going to such lengths to try to make people believe candidate Chris Forbush is ineligible to run for Assembly District 40 in Carson City?” Ira claims it is because he doesn’t want to see Forbush win the primary, but then as the Republican nominee, get thrown off the general election ballot leaving the seat wide open for the Democrat to win. What if that isn’t the reason at all?
What if Forbush is thoroughly eligible to run because he is an “actual resident” of the state as required by NRS 218A.200, despite the lies Ira peddles to the public?
What if the definition of “actual resident” as used in Nevada election statutes is “the place where a person is legally domiciled [one’s legal residence]” under NRS 281.050?
What if the definition of “legal residence” is found in NRS 10.155 and says it is “that place where a person has been physically present within the State […] during all of the period for which residence is claimed by the person,” but also explains how a person can leave the State without losing residency?
What if a person can leave the State without losing residency as long as they leave with “the intention in good faith to return without delay and continue his or her residence” under NRS 10.155?
What if this ‘deferment’ statute exists so a Nevada citizen can leave the State to go to school, or go on vacation, or go into military service, or go work, without automatically losing their residency?
What if Chris left the state on just such a ‘deferment’ and spent 8 years at school then came back home to Nevada and now is running for Assembly District 40?
What if Ira Hansen has been conveniently not mentioning this ‘deferment’ law to the rest of the public so he can malign Forbush in the media for not being physically present in the state and claim that this makes Forbush ineligible?
What if Ira doesn’t really believe Forbush is ineligible, but is simply slandering him because he wants Forbush, the preferred candidate who is polling extremely well, to lose?
What if Forbush is the only candidate endorsed by the Carson City GOP because Forbush is the strongest conservative, with the deepest constitutional understanding, and is very popular with voters inside the District?
What if despite Forbush being the most conservative, which is a quality we all would think Ira would like, Ira instead wants Forbush out for other reasons?
What if Ira has planned since last legislative session to run for Speaker of the Assembly again?
What if Ira knew that he would have to run against Jim Wheeler this coming session?
What if Jim Wheeler is very popular and Ira would likely lose to Wheeler in a Speaker race?
What if Ira was initially fully supportive of Forbush moving back to Nevada to run for Assembly?
What if Ira tried to get Forbush to move to Douglas county to run against Wheeler hoping to take Wheeler out in the primary so Ira would be able to run virtually unopposed for Speaker?
What if Forbush told Ira “no, Wheeler is a good, strong conservative and I will not run against him, I’m running in Carson City against PK” only to have Ira turn around and stop communicating with Forbush?
What if because of Forbush’s refusal to go along with Ira’s plan to oust Wheeler, Ira became vindictive and has now been plotting to remove Forbush from the race?
What if Ira recruited a 4th candidate to run in the AD40 race, against Forbush, hoping his recruit would draw away enough votes from the stronger and more conservative Forbush so that Forbush would lose as a way to “get even”, and if his recruit happened to win, Ira would have another follower in the Assembly?
What if the latest polling showed Ira’s recruit not doing well enough to stop Forbush on his own and so now Ira has resorted to slandering Forbush to stop him from winning?
What if this is the reason Ira Hansen is going to such great lengths, as a multi-term, high up sitting Assemblyman from a different district, to discredit a simple, newcomer candidate that people largely prefer in the Carson City race?
What if this is why Ira is lying about Chris Forbush’s eligibility?
What if Ira can no longer be trusted?
What if this all shows how Forbush has the establishment running scared, because he refuses to be controlled by nor take orders from them, shaking up the political landscape?
What if Forbush is exactly the kind of person we all should vote for?
