Carson City kicked-off the Memorial Day weekend festivities Friday during the second annual community Rockin’ Rib Fest at Casino Fandango.

Attendees sank their teeth into a variety of ribs and chicken from award-winning rib cooks around the country — including Austin’s Texas Lightning BBQ, Chicago BBQ, Back Forty Texas BBQ and Carson City BBQ.

Along with sizzling meats, Men Wielding Fire debuted their fire roasted corn with plenty of spicy seasonings to add more flavor to a deliciously-packed holiday event.

Vendors, outdoor games, Casino Fandango’s “beverage garden” and live music from several bands kept the cook off lively with several action-filled activities.

The Rockin’ Rib fest will continue through Monday, May 27. Hours for the all-day event are listed below:

— Friday, May 24: 10 a.m. to 9 p.m.
— Saturday, May 25: 10 a.m. to 9 p.m.
— Sunday, May 26: 10 a.m. to 9 p.m.
— Monday, May 27: 10 a.m. to 5 p.m.

The Rockin’ Rib fest is located on the top-roof level of the parking garage at Casino Fandango, 3800 S. Carson St. in Carson City. Event attendees will have the chance to vote for their favorite ribs. Winners will be announced on Sunday at 3 p.m.
