
A Carson City driver who died and a Reno passenger who was injured have been identified by the Nevada Highway Patrol in Sunday morning’s fatal rollover accident that happened south of Gardnerville.
Emilio Vargas-Gonzales, 26, of Carson City, was thrown from the vehicle as it rolled over and sustain fatal injuries at the scene, said NHP Trooper Chuck Allen. His passenger, Francisco J. Curiel-Caro, 34, of Reno, was seat belted and remained inside the vehicle during the crash, Allen said.
He was flown to Renown Regional Medical Center by Care Flight with life-threatening injuries. Family members of both motorists were notified and briefed of the crash on Sunday. The medical condition of Curiel-Caro was not available this morning, Allen said.
On Sunday morning about 5:14 a.m., NHP troopers were dispatched to a single-vehicle rollover crash on Highway 395 near Courtland Lane, approximately 6 miles south of Gardnerville in Douglas County.
