The Nevada Commission on Peace Officer Standards and Training, also known as POST, is pleased to announce 23 graduates, from 13 agencies, accepted their peace officers’ oath as POST Academy Class 2024-01.

The graduation ceremony highlighted Carson City Sheriff Kenneth Furlong as the keynote speaker along with POST Executive Director, Michael Sherlock. Training Division Chief Mike Hayhurst administered the peace officers’ oath for all twenty-three graduates.

The ceremony was held Thursday, May 9 at the Brewery Arts Center in Carson City.

The Category I POST Academy is 655 hours of intensive peace officer training over 17 weeks. The following 23 graduates’ agencies that accepted the oath are:

7th Judicial District Court

Carson City Sheriff’s Office

Churchill County Sheriff’s Office

Douglas County Sheriff’s Office

Elko County Sheriff’s Office

Elko Police Department

Humboldt County Sheriff’s Office

Lyon County Sheriff’s Office

Mineral County Sheriff’s Office

Nevada Division of State Parks

Nye County Sheriff’s Office

Reno-Sparks Indian Colony Police Department

Storey County Sheriff’s Office

The Nevada Commission on Peace Officer Standards and Training (POST) is the regulatory agency for law enforcement training throughout the state and is responsible for the certification of the nearly 10,000 peace officers serving in over 130 criminal justice agencies in the state.
