  • Carson City Sgt. Mike Cullen caught the man after a brief chase at Park and Stewart streets.

UPDATE: A 36-year-old man is in custody this morning after allegedly robbing a customer at an ATM machine in front of Bank of America on William Street in Carson City.

The suspect, Fernando Romero, allegedly stole $340 from a customer who was using an ATM machine in the robbery. He is being held on a robbery charge with a bail amount of $40,000.

Romero was located by Sgt. Mike Cullen off of Stewart and Park streets. Cullen chased and caught him after Romero jumped a fence.

It is the second time in a week Cullen has caught a suspected bank robber. On Friday Cullen captured Brent Muir, 55, of Carson City, who is suspected of robbing a Plumas Bank in Kings Beach, Lake Tahoe.

Carson City Sheriff Ken Furlong said deputies swarmed a three-block area within a minute of the report, which came in at around 9:48 a.m.

“Clearly with this type offense, if he had not been caught, he would have done it again. This will put an end to him,” said Furlong.
