By Denise Clodjeaux — Longtime Carson City restaurant, The Cracker Box, will mark its 45th anniversary this month. To celebrate, the diner will offer 45% off all dine-in meals on Tuesday, May 13.
Opened in 1980 by Jerry Massad, the Box, as many call it, has been serving made from scratch breakfast and lunch ever since. “We have customers who have been coming in since that first year,” Massad says. “We have had amazing community support for four and a half decades. This is our way of saying Thank You.”

“What truly sets the Cracker Box apart, in my opinion, goes beyond just the delicious food,” says General Manager Siovhan McEver. “It’s that genuine sense of belonging you feel the moment you walk through the door. It’s not just a place to eat; it’s a hub where neighbors connect, stories are shared, and everyone, both customers and the team here, feels like they’re part of the same family.”
The Cracker Box is located at 402 E. William Street in Carson City and is open from 6 a.m. to 2 p.m. The 45% discount is offered for dine-in only.
