The fourth annual Walk us Home Run/Walk for foster care — hosted by the Nevada Division of Child & Family Services, CASA of Carson City and in partnership with the RennerVation Foundation — is happening this Saturday, May 9 in Carson City.
The Walk Us Home run and walk is not a timed event. The focus is on raising awareness and support for foster kids in our community.
The run/walk sign-ins begin at 8 a.m. at the Brewery Arts Center with the run/walk portion beginning at 9 a.m. with tours through the residential neighborhood of West Carson City. Go here to sign up.
Following the run/walk, organizers will host its Walk Us Home Family Fair at the BAC, 449 West King Street. All are invited.
This year, organizers adding a playful twist with the theme is Hats On, Hearts Open! Whether silly, colorful, oversized, or your favorite cap, wear your fun hat as you walk or run.
Why Foster Care is Critical to the Community
Did you know there are roughly 60 foster homes in rural Nevada for the 400 youth in foster care? Some counties have as many as 14 homes, some counties have as little as 1 or 2. There are even Nevada counties that have no foster homes.
When there are not enough foster homes in any given community, children are at risk of being displaced to outside communities, bringing forth a whole new set of challenges and setbacks. Join us in bringing attention to our HUGE need for foster homes, because every child deserves to go home.

All proceeds for this event will go towards the 2026 Camp RennerVation that invites Nevada foster youth to experience an unforgettable summer camp in Lake Tahoe.
Registration includes a race t-shirt and finisher bag. T-shirts come in adult or youth unisex. T-shirts are not guaranteed for participants who register on race week. Go here to sign up.
