On Wednesday, May 4, 2016, the final leg of the Nevada Law Enforcement Memorial Run was made with a handoff of the baton from Douglas County to the Carson City Sheriff’s Office.
The 2016 run, which began April 27, 2016 in Las Vegas, is in memory of Carson City Sheriff’s Deputy Carl Howell who died in the line of duty on Aug. 15, 2015 while responding to a domestic violence call. Howell will be honored at noon, Thursday, May 5, 2016 at the 19th Annual Nevada Law Enforcement Officers Memorial ceremony at the state capitol grounds in Carson City.
