STATELINE, Nev. – The Tahoe Regional Planning Agency and Douglas County Community Development Planning Division are seeking public comments on the scope of the environmental analysis for the proposed Barton Hospital project. There will be a public scoping meeting in front of the TRPA Advisory Planning Commission on Wednesday, May 14, at the TRPA board rooms in Stateline, Nevada. Meeting information will be available by May 7 on the Meetings and Notices page.
The Draft Environmental Impact Statement will evaluate the potential impacts of the proposed project and possible amendments to the Douglas County South Shore Area Plan. Refer to the Notice of Preparation on TRPA’s Barton project page for a summary of the proposed project and information on how to provide input.
Earlier this year, the agency raised the level of environmental review for the proposed project from an Environmental Assessment to an Environmental Impact Statement to thoroughly review potential short-term or cumulative impacts to environmental quality. All scoping comments previously submitted during the Environmental Assessment process will be carried over and do not need to be resubmitted. Scoping comments should be sent at the earliest possible date, but not later than June 6, 2025.
The proposed Project includes construction of a hospital building with approximately 230,000 square feet of floor area on the Barton Hospital property located on the west side of US Highway 50, at a maximum of 80 feet for the central five-story section that includes one level of below-grade parking. Four stories above the first-level parking structure would be visible from US Highway 50.
