
The identity of a man found April 24 along the Carson River in Dayton has been identified and was a man reported missing last year, according to the Lyon County Sheriff’s Office.
On Tuesday, April 30, 2019, The Washoe County Medical Examiner’s Office confirmed the decedent was in fact a missing person, who was identified as 34-year-old Dayton resident, Frank Greene.
On April 24, 2019, Lyon County sheriff’s detectives were called to the scene of a body that had been found in Dayton, along the Carson River irrigation ditch.
The subsequent investigation revealed that the decedent had been in the location for an extended period of time. The decedent was suspected to be that of an active missing person investigation, according to the sheriff’s office.
Detectives were able to identify the decedent using DNA from a family member and comparing that to the decedent.
Frank Greene was reported missing on October 26, 2018, and detectives had been looking for him ever since. See story here. The missing person report has been closed and his death investigation is still pending, although foul play is not suspected to be a factor in his death.
