A 23-year-old Carson City man was arrested Tuesday in 3400 block of Sherman on suspicion of assault with a deadly weapon in which he allegedly drew a handgun and pointed it at a victim during a fight, a Carson City sheriff’s deputy said.
Brandon Saaf was arrested at 4:30 p.m. with a bail of $20,000. A 19-year-old man involved in the fight was arrested on a misdemeanor charge of obstructing officers. According to the arrest report, deputies were called to the area of Sherman Lane at 4:09 p.m. for a report of two men fighting with one of them having a gun. An anonymous person told dispatch a man with a black shirt pulled the handgun on another subject.
Officers arrived and spoke with a woman outside the residence. Officers explained why they were there and she volunteered to go inside and have everyone come out of the residence. One man, Saaf, was attempting to hide on the porch but came to officers when they called out for him. He was wearing a black shirt and was detained. He was read his Miranda rights in which he responded “either charge me or release me,” the arrest report states.
A deputy interviewed the victim who identified Saaf as the one who pulled the gun on him. The victim told police that Saaf drove up, got out of a green car and “started doing some gang stuff,” and pointed the gun at him. The victim said he pushed Saaf away, with Saaf taking a swing at him. The victim said the two fought then he went inside the residence to clean up.
Deputies found a witness who video recorded the fight. The video showed the 19-year-old standing between Saaf and the victim. The 19-year-old had been lying to deputies about being outside during the fight. He told officer for 20 minutes that he was inside during the whole event and did not come outside until the woman at the residence told him officers were there. The 19-year-old was arrested and taken to jail and booked for obstructing, a misdemeanor. His bail was set at $412.
While trying to locate the gun, a male juvenile involved said he picked up the weapon after Saaf dropped while trying to jump a fence. The male juvenile said he put it in his safe in a room and voluntarily opened the safe and allowed the officer to retrieve the gun. The juvenile was arrested and taken to juvenile detention for drug related offenses.
In other arrests: A 38-year-old Carson City man, Scott Ryan Woods, was booked into Carson City Jail Tuesday, on a felony warrant charge of unlawful possession of a portable telecommunications device by a prisoner, issued April 6, 2015 out of Carson City Justice Court. He is being held without bail pending a hearing.
— A 36-year-old Carson City man, Jacob Macabe Donovan, was booked Tuesday into Carson City Jail on two felony warrants, burglary and conspiracy to commit burglary, issued Jan. 16, 2015 out of Carson City Justice Court. He is being held without bail pending a hearing.
