Firefighters responded early Monday morning to Smith’s grocery store for an electrical short that caused some arcing in one of its front roof gutters, according to a Carson City Fire Department battalion chief.
The incident was reported to dispatch at 4:23 a.m. as a possible structure fire at 599 East William Street.
According to CCFD Battalion Chief Jon Pedrini, firefighters arrived and located an electrical short in the front of the building’s gutter system. The heat tape wire shorted out, which caused slight electrical arcing, he said.
Firefighters were able to isolate the circuit. There was no extension and the store opened this morning.
