Kenneth H. Smith, a proud United States Marine Corps veteran, devoted husband and father, passed away peacefully on March 27, 2026, at the age of 84.

Born on May 3, 1942, he lived a life defined by service, loyalty, and love. He answered the call to serve his country as a Marine, carrying those values of honor, courage, and commitment throughout every chapter of his life.

For 59 years, he shared an extraordinary life with his wife, Vickie. To his family, he was everything: a protector, a teacher, a storyteller, and the one who showed what it meant to show up with your whole heart. He led by example — with integrity, humility, and a deep, abiding love that will continue to guide those he leaves behind.

For 17 years, he served as a Volunteer Coordinator with the Carson City Sheriff’s Office, serving his community with the same commitment and heart that defined his life.

He took pride in his service as Exalted Ruler of the Elks Lodge in Canoga Park, California, and Carson City, Nevada, a role he embraced wholeheartedly.

Ken is survived by his children, grandchildren, and great-grandchildren, who will forever carry his lessons, his humor, and his love in the way they live their own lives.

He is preceded in death by his cherished wife and their youngest daughter, Stacey.

His legacy is not only in the years he lived, but in the people he shaped, the values he instilled, and the love he gave so generously. Though he is no longer here in body, his presence remains — in every memory, every tradition, and every moment of strength he passed on.

A celebration of life will be held on Sunday, May 24, 2026, at 12:30 PM in Carson City. Please contact (775) 883-4685 for information.
