UPDATE: East Fork Fire Protection District, Douglas County Sheriff’s Office and Search and Rescue responded Saturday morning to an injured paraglider who crashed off Foothill Road near Kingsbury Grade.
The incident was reported just after 10 a.m. The paraglider was spotted in steep and rocky terrain, according to first responders. Rescue teams hiked to the downed paraglider accessing an area near Kingsbury Grade. A helicopter rescue team, RAVEN from Washoe County Sheriff’s Office, also responded, as well as Battle Born Medevac.
Rescue crews at around 11:18 a.m. reached the patient, an adult male, who suffered injuries following the crash, telling rescuers he had plunged around 30 feet. Rescuers were able to get the injured patient secured where he was moved to a clear location and then airlifted to the hospital via Battle Born Medevac.
