This week’s It’s Your City with host Cortney Bloomer features Laura Main of Wired Wednesday Digital Artists. The two discuss the upcoming 2016 City Wide Short Film Competition, an annual event for budding Carson City area filmmakers.

The 2016 City Wide Short Film competition kicks off on Wednesday, April 27, 2016 at noon. Up-and-coming filmmakers are urged to enter and make a movie in over the course of one week. See the video below.

Once the competition begins, those who have entered must make a 5-7 minute short film and turn it in by 12 noon the following Wednesday.

Each filmmaker will be given a set of prompts, which are items that must be included in the submitted films. On Saturday, May 7, there will be two screening and judging events held at the Brewery Arts Center Performance Hall in Carson City.

All films that fall into the Under 16 category will screen starting at 3:30 p.m., and all films that fall into the 16 and Older category will screen starting at 6:30 p.m.

Awards will be presented after each screening. Sponsored by Wired Wednesday, in association with the Brewery Arts Center, this is the 4th year for this competition.
