A 49-year-old Dayton man was charged Tuesday with open murder and is being held at the Lyon County Jail following the Monday night shooting death of a man at a Dayton Valley Road residence, sheriff’s officials said.
Roger Scheurn, who was arrested earlier in the case has been officially charged with open murder, said Michael Carlson of the Lyon County Sheriff’s Office. He suffered from non-life threatening injuries to his face and was taken into custody.
The Lyon County Sheriff’s Office responded to a call on Dayton Valley Road in Dayton at around 11:15 p.m. of a reported shooting victim. The 39-year-old male victim, who has yet to be identified pending notice of family, died from multiple gunshot wounds. He was transported by Care Flight to Renown Medical Center where he later died from his wounds.
Authorities believe this to be an isolated incident, and the Lyon County Sheriff’s Office wants assure the public there is no threat to the community.
