A 33-year-old Carson City man was arrested Wednesday on suspicion of battery with a deadly weapon after he allegedly struck a victim with a chain during a dispute, a Carson City sheriff’s deputy said.

Jorge Isaac Yepez was arrested at 5:53 p.m. in the 3300 block of Imperial Way. According to the arrest report, deputies were dispatched to an apartment complex in reference to a fight. The reporting witness said two men were beating the apartment manager’s boyfriend.

Deputies met with a Yepez in the middle of the road. He was sweating profusely and said he had come to the apartment complex to collect $20 from subjects there who were renting a space on his mother’s property. He said while attempting to collect the fee, he was attacked by two men, one of which it was later determined to be the victim. He said the only thing he had to protect himself with was a chain so he used it, the arrest report states.

The victim had a large gash on his forehead and said he was the manager’s boyfriend and assisted in operating the property. The victim told deputies that Yepez had come to the property earlier that day, had cornered one man and threatened another with a box cutter.

The victim told Yepez to leave the property. The victim said Yepez returned after 5 p.m. and began to hit him with a chain, striking him on the forehead and left shoulder. The victim said he was able to pull the chain away from the suspect.

Three other witnesses said they all saw Yepez as the aggressor who attacked the victim with the chain. They said the victim and others pulled the chain from the suspect. The officer placed Yepez in custody and charged him with battery using a deadly weapon. Bail: $30,000.

— A 27-year-old Carson City man, Kristopher A. Howerton, was arrested Wednesday, 9:30 p.m. in the 600 block of Bunker Hill Drive on a felony suspicion of burglary and a misdemeanor charge of trespassing after allegedly breaking into the home of a Carson City fire captain.

According to the arrest report deputes were dispatched to the 600 block of Bunker Hill Drive in reference to an unknown man found walking inside a home. The reporting witness said she had locked herself inside of the bathroom of the home.

During the response dispatch notified deputies that the fire department was already on scene. Deputies met a Carson City Fire Department captain at the door. He said that this was his home and the reporting witness was his wife. The deputy walked inside and found two firefighters holding the man to the ground. Two deputies replaced the firefighters and placed the man into custody. The suspect said he was from out of town, had gotten drunk at a bar and was trying to find his friend’s home on Washington Street, the arrest report states.

The victim signed a citizen’s arrest form for trespassing and the officer began to transport the suspect to Carson City Jail on the misdemeanor trespassing charge.

While being booked and not knowing the name of the victim, a deputy discovered the victim’s driver’s license in the suspect’s possession and asked him who it belonged to. The suspect told the jail deputy that it was his mother’s and not to involve her in the situation, the arrest report states.

The victim later said she searched her residence and discovered her purse had been ransacked. The fire captain, her husband, notified deputies at the jail and said that his wife was missing her driver’s license. Bail: $20,000.

— A Carson City man was arrested Wednesday, 4:45 p.m. in the 5600 block of South Carson Street on suspicion of petit larceny. According to the arrest report, the man allegedly stole a purse from a woman at a casino. When confronted by casino security, he dropped the purse. The man was found later at another casino and taken into custody. Bail: $352.
