Every month, Carson City Park Rangers offer various Ranger-Led programs that include educational opportunities, historical fun and exciting adventures. All programs are offered for free and take place in one of the many Carson City parks and open space areas.
Online registration is often required so Park Rangers have a proper head count. All programs are subject to cancellation due to Park Ranger availability; registered participants will be notified. You can find more information about each program by going here.

Pink Full Moon Hike
Join the Carson City Park Rangers for a moonlit hike underneath the Pink Moon. We will be adventuring up the Wild Horse Trail located at the North end of Centennial Park.
This trail is considered “more difficult” under the IMBA Trail Rating System. Expect some moderate terrain and rocky obstacles for about 2 miles. Be sure to bring closed toed shoes and plenty of water. This program is weather dependent.

– Minors under 18 must be accompanied by an adult
– Dogs are allowed on a 6-foot leash

Bird Walk
Join a Park Ranger on a birding adventure along the Carson River! Whether you are an avid birder, or an outdoor enthusiast interested in local bird species, this hike will be an exciting experience for the whole family. We recommend bringing water, snacks, binoculars, or scope.
The trail is considered “easy” according the IMBA Trail Rating System. Expect flat terrain and minimal obstacles for about 3 miles.

– Dress appropriate for the weather
– Minors under 18 must be accompanied by an adult
– No dogs allowed, as they might scare away the birds
– If you or a family member needs it, Park Rangers has one Grit Freedom all-terrain wheelchair available. If you’d like to request to use this wheelchair during our program, email parkrangers@carson.org. This request is on a first come first serve basis.
