A Carson City man has been identified in a fatal wrong-way crash that happened early Thursday morning, March 20 on US-50 near Glenbrook.

The Washoe County Regional Medical Examiner’s Office identified Brian A. Vasquez-Gonzalez, 24, of Carson City, who died on scene from injuries sustained in the crash Thursday that involved a SUV and pickup.

Vasquez-Gonzalez had been a passenger in the front seat of the Subaru that had been struck by the driver of the Toyota Tacoma who went into the wrong lanes near Spooner Summit, according to Nevada Highway Patrol, which will release more information on Monday.

NHP says impairment is a factor in the crash and have not released the name of the suspect driver. The Douglas County Sheriff’s Office is handling the law enforcement investigation for this case, according to the medical examiner’s office.

According to NHP in its preliminary investigation, the driver of a Toyota Tacoma was heading in an eastbound direction on the highway near Douglas County Mile Marker 10 and ended up in the westbound lanes, colliding with the driver of a Subaru Crosstrek at approximately 6:57 a.m. The driver of the Subaru was heading west in the correct lane.

Three others were injured, one being transported to the hospital on a medical helicopter and the others by ambulance.

We will update as more information becomes available.
