UPDATE 11:30PM: A 17-year-old teenage male was flown to Renown Medical Center in Reno late Saturday night after being struck by a vehicle at the intersection crosswalk of Lompa Lane and Highway 50, a Carson City Sheriff’s Office sergeant said.
As of 11:30 p.m., one travel lane was open on Highway 50 for through-traffic as Nevada Highway Patrol troopers determine the cause of the accident, said Sgt. Scott McDaniel.
The condition of the teen is unknown. He was thrown “a distance” after being struck, said McDaniel. Motorists traveling both east and westbound on Highway 50 East should expect some delays around the accident scene.

Care Flight has been called and Carson City emergency crews responded to a pedestrian accident involving a vehicle in the area of Highway 50 and Lompa Lane, according to Carson City dispatch.
The accident was reported at around 10:50 p.m. and involves a pedestrian, possibly a teenager, who was struck and injured.
The victim was to taken by ground ambulance to the Carson City Airport where Care Flight would transport to the trauma ward at Renown Medical Center in Reno.
The condition of the victim and circumstance surrounding the accident are unknown at this time.
The Carson City Sheriff’s Office and the Nevada Highway Patrol are investigating and re-routing traffic around the accident scene.
