Service Opportunity in Dayton with Stipend

The nonprofit Healthy Communities Coalition of Lyon and Storey Counties is seeking a full time VISTA member (Volunteers in Service to America). The service term will be from May 2021 until August 2021 in Dayton, Nevada.

The VISTA member will help build capacity for the nonprofit’s Rural Health and Nutrition Initiative by developing tools and partnerships that can be used to build pathways to resources for people who are food insecure.

For example, the VISTA member will help organize training opportunities for the public, and collaborate with farmers and cottage food producers to develop tools and strategies for promoting local foods. They’ll also research best practices for inclusive food systems, and coordinate and recruit volunteers in order to increase access to local, healthy, affordable food for all.

The opportunity includes a biweekly stipend, plus a choice of an Education Award to pay for college/ career training, or an End of Service Stipend.

The successful candidate will have office, writing and research skills and enthusiasm for teamwork.
