Carson City Boxing Club coaches and volunteers recently took part in Youth Suicide Prevention 101 training, presented by the Nevada Office of Suicide Prevention in collaboration with ProjectSTAY, established in memory of a Nevada student-athlete who died by suicide.

Currently, suicide prevention and mental health training are not required for sports coaches and teams by the state or the NIAA.

To address this gap, ProjectSTAY aims to encourage sports teams to have at least 95% of their coaching staff and volunteers complete various suicide prevention and mental health training programs.

For more information on Suicide Prevention Training, contact the Nevada Office of Suicide Prevention in this link here.

Carson City Boxing Club, a local non-profit gym, has been serving the community since 1999.
