Staff Report

A 36-year-old Mound House man was arrested in the area of Gordon and Edmonds on a $20,000 felony warrant, possession of fentanyl, possession of drug paraphernalia, and a stop sign violation.
Daniel Cherb was arrested after deputies were patrolling the area of Gordon Street and Edmonds Drive when they saw a vehicle come to an abrupt stop with half of the vehicle in front of the stop line.
Dispatch advised the license plates were suspended, and deputies stopped the vehicle.
Deputies made contact with Cherb, who stated he did not have valid insurance for the vehicle and the vehicle did not have valid registration because his family recently purchased the vehicle.
Deputies ordered a tow for the vehicle, and dispatch advised that Cherb had an active warrant out of Alameda County, Calif. issued on Nov. 10, 2021.
During an inventory of the vehicle, deputies located two hollowed-out pens with a brown residue inside of them. Through prior training, deputies recognized them as tooter straws, according to the report.
Deputies located a “glass pipe commonly used to smoke narcotics” under the console, along with a small glass container with a white powdery substance inside.
Deputies asked Cherb what was in the jar, and Cherb said it was “crushed fake Xanax.” When deputies asked what type of drugs he typically used, and Cherb said fentanyl.
Deputies asked if the fake xanax was fentanyl, and Cherb said it was. He also said he was likely to detox from fentanyl while in custody.
Deputies booked him into the Carson City Jail without incident.
Bail: $23,712
