
A 57 year-old Yerington man was booked into the Carson City Jail Friday morning at 9:05 a.m. on a felony outstanding fugitive from justice warrant issued out of the California Superior Court in Riverside County, a Carson City Sheriff’s deputy said.
Rick William Brown was transported to the Carson City Jail by the Nevada Department of Corrections for extradition to Riverside County, CA, on two counts of failing to register as a sex offender, the arrest report said.
Brown was convicted in Riverside, CA, three counts of lewd or lascivious acts with a child under the age of 14 in May 1992. Later he would be convicted on two counts of inflicting corporal injury on a spouse/cohabitant Riverside, CA, in February 2000. He was most recently found in violation of the California Penal Code requiring registration of a convicted sex offender in April 2013 out of Riverside, CA, the arrest report said.
Bail is set at $1,000,000.
In other arrests:
— A 30 year-old Reno man was arrested late Friday night at 11:37 p.m. in the 800 block of East William Street for multiple felony and misdemeanor offenses, a Carson City Sheriff’s deputy said, including felony trafficking a controlled substance, possession of a firearm by a prohibited person, and possession of a controlled substance for sales.
Dale McNair was taken into custody following a traffic stop by a Carson City Sheriff’s deputy a non-functioning rear license plate light and no front plate, the report said.
Upon stopping the suspect’s vehicle, the deputy noted McNair seemed immediately agitated and appeared nervous. His hands shook and he failed to make eye contact with the officer, the report said.
McNair was unable to answer basic questions about the vehicle he was driving and could not produce proof of insurance. As the suspect searcched the glove box for vehicle registration, the deputy observed a plastic baggie visible under the stereo and in the dashboard. The baggie contained a white substance visible from outside of the vehicle.
The suspect was asked to exit the vehicle and placed in handcuffs by the officer while another deputy was called in to assist with a search of the vehicle, the report said.
A K9 officer performed an exterior sniff of the suspect vehicle and showed a positive alert at the driver’s door window. An interior sniff showed positive alerts in the backseat and center console.
A search of the vehicle revealed 4.53 grams of methamphetamine in the baggie first seen by the deputy, field tested presumptive positive. Also found were small baggies of marijuana and a backpack behind the driver’s seat containing a digital scale with visible residue on the weighing surface, a box of plastic baggies, a Glock 22 .40 caliber Smith and Wesson handgun with live cartridges in the magazine, two laptop computers and a cell phone.
On McNair, deputies found $2,000 in cash and a pipe.
Additional misdemeanor offenses include driving with a revoked license, suspended or fictitious license plates, no proof of insurance, improper display of a license plate and no license plate lamp. Bail: $20,000.
— A 23 year-old Carson City man was arrested Friday afternoon at 5:04 p.m. in the 200 block of 1600 block of Airport Road for multiple misdemeanor offenses, a Carson City Sheriff’s deputy said, including second offense driving under the influence (DUI) of drugs, first offense using a cell phone while driving, and parking in/blocking a driveway.
According to the arrest report, the suspect was stopped after law enforcement observed his vehicle making a turn without signaling. He also parked his vehicle in front of a driveway, blocking it, the report said.
The sheriff’s deputy observed the suspect using his cell phone as he parked his vehicle.
Upon making contact with the suspect, the deputy observed him to be shaking badly, had red watery eyes, and appeared very nervous, the report said. The suspect failed to make eye contact with the officer and would look down at his cell phone, which the deputy observed showing a Google search for “how long does it take for acid hits to kick in.”
The suspect was asked to exit the vehicle and he was patted down. He consented to a search of his vehicle by a K9 officer, whose exterior sniff showed a positive alert at the driver’s door seam, the report said.
An interior sniff showed a positive alert at the passenger seat area.
The suspect admitted to doing two “hits” of acid the night before and also to marijuana use. He consented to standardized field sobriety testing, which showed signs of impairment.
The suspect was then handcuffed and placed into custody, transported to the Carson City Jail for booking. Bail: $2,500.
