A 21-year-old Carson City man was arrested early Wednesday morning on multiple misdemeanor charges, including suspicion of DUI, after eluding an officer while on a motorcycle, eventually crashing it and receiving minor injuries, a Carson City sheriff’s deputy said.
According to the arrest report, the deputy was traveling north on Russell from Long Street at 3:07 a.m. and saw a motorcycle going east on Northridge traveling at least 50 mph. The motorcycle turned south on Russell and sped away. The deputy attempted to stop the motorcycle, activating his emergency lights, but the motorcyclist simply rode around the patrol vehicle and took off again at a high rate of speed.
The officer pursued the vehicle, which later crashed as the rider attempted to turn north onto Airport Road. The suspect removed his motorcycle helmet and took off running on Champion Street. The officer ordered him to stop and the man complied. He was treated at the hospital, released and arrested. Dispatch advised the man’s license had been revoked for DUI.
The suspect smelled of an alcoholic beverage but because he was involved in a motorcycle crash, the officer did not do standardized field sobriety tests. The suspect did provide a preliminary breath test of a .175. He was arrested for DUI, speeding, eluding and driving on a revoked license. Bail: $3,003.
