On February 24, 2025, at approximately 7:29 p.m., the Nevada Highway Patrol, a division of the Nevada State Police, responded to a report of a crash at the location of US50 and Asphalt Drive in Carson City, Nevada.
The preliminary investigation indicates that a 2003 Toyota Highlander was traveling eastbound on US50 in the number two travel lane.
A 2015 Ford F750 was traveling eastbound on US50 in the number two travel lane, in front of the Toyota Highlander.
The Ford F750 was traveling at a significantly lower speed than the Toyota Highlander. The driver of the Toyota Highlander failed to use due care and adequately slow the Toyota Highlander.
The front right of the Toyota Highlander struck the left rear of the Ford F750. The Toyota Highlander rotated and overturned. The driver of the Toyota Highlander was not wearing a seatbelt and was ejected.
The driver of the 2003 Toyota Highlander, Nathan Medina, a 47-year-old male from Dayton, Nevada, was pronounced deceased on scene by medical personnel.
The Nevada Highway Patrol Region Two (Northern Command) Traffic Homicide Unit is investigating this crash.
