UPDATE: Firefighters arrived on scene and have knocked down the fire, which was determined to be caused by food burning from a stove.

Carson City Fire Department and sheriff’s deputies were called Monday afternoon to a possible structure fire at 1776 Russell Way.

Reported at 2:20 p.m., Carson City dispatch was alerted to a fire with smoke coming out of a residence and a fire alarm going off. Dispatch was advised from the reporting party that they didn’t know if anyone was in the residence.

Firefighters arriving on scene reported light smoke showing in one of the resident units. Apparently food on the stove was burning and the fire was quickly knocked down. Firefighters remained on scene to access damage to the unit. The person who occupied the residence wasn’t home at the time.
